More signage news from around the world from Hants and Dorset Signs as harbour crossings should become a bit smoother for commuters using Halifax’s A. Murray MacKay Bridge in Canada. Beginning today, work crews are installing six large signs on the approaches to the bridge, Halifax Harbour Bridges announced Tuesday. "They are for us to manage the traffic a little bit and alert the public to incidents or to road conditions ahead," said bridge engineer John Eppell. The large, overhead, LED-lit signs are being installed now and testing should get underway sometime in January with the whole system up and running by the end of February. Each sign holds up to three lines of text. The cost for the project is $2.2 million, which is being paid from toll revenue, Mr. Eppell said. Managing traffic is an increasing concern for the bridge operators because the number of crossings is growing steadily, he said.
